Initiatives

arcenciel, based in Tanaïl - or Taanayel - since 1999, has promoted traditional architecture in the central Bekaa in the form of the “Tanail ecolodge” youth hostel since 2006. The association has built this traditional hostel in the form of a clay-brick house village. The “Al Khan al Makssoud”, a traditional Lebanese restaurant also built of clay bricks was recently added to the village. This charming village with its pleasant large garden and many shops has become a regular meeting place for people from all regions and of all ages.

Objectives

Vision

• Contribute to the preservation of the climatic, geographical and cultural oasis which is Lebanon and participate in the resurrection of Lebanese heritage.

• Strengthen inter-communal coexistence

• Independently Fund the arcenciel center in Tanaïl’s activities and services through profit acquired through the Khan al Makssoud and ecolodge, and reinvest profits in social work.

Contribute to sustainable development by promoting traditional architecture and traditional methods of construction.
