Faithful to its vocation of
contributing to sustainable development, arcenciel
committed itself in 2006 to the construction of a youth hostel in Tanaïl (Central
Bekaa), near the arcenciel support
and assistance center. In the spirit of
environmental friendliness, arcenciel favored traditional
architecture and ancestral
construction methods inspired by old Lebanese clay brick architecture.
arcenciel also saw fit to build the "al
khan al Maksoud"
restaurant, also made from clay bricks, to serve as a friendly and
traditional meeting place for visitors.
With its lush garden, al khan is
the ideal place for country-style lunches of rustic regional
specialties such as delicious
roast mutton slow cooked over a coal fire, as well as themed parties and any other occasion.
At the
Tanaïl ecolodge, visitors have the advantage to take part in the the various activities of
the Tanaïl domain; found at the other end of the highway, not to
mention the ecolodge activities themselves such as the arcenciel youth
club, the clay
brick fabrication yard and
the demonstration of a historically typical town. Upon
demand the ecolodge also offers corporate team-building
activities, seminars and workshops.
Typical Village
Come discover the way of life of our ancestors and participate in an authentic demonstration of old Lebanese traditions! One can find Hrissé, the khan’s traditional dish, participate in the preparation of the mounit kawarma, saj el tannour, and wheat jarouche, traditional laundry, and sheep shearing as well as the preparation of coffee over coal; much and more is found at arcenciel’s ecolodge in Tanail.

Construction of clay brick houses
A mixture of red earth, wheat straw and water, these are the simple constituents of a clay brick. The clay brick house’s advantage is that it isolates external noise and absorbs odors, and this is only a part of its ecological, economic and aesthetic benefits. Tanaïl domain visits
The domain abounds with many diverse activities such as hikes, mountain bike and equitation trails as well as games such as bowls and archery. An ideal natural setting for camping, summer camps, and country-style lunches, also for filming music videos, wedding ceremonies, private events, and photo shoots.
